(High-Collectible)
Woven with rarely seen "Heraldic" palmettes, this magnificent Kuba rug is a powerful, radiant example of bold Caucasian imagery that showcases an artist's attempt to depict the hidden forces in the natural world. Each layered emblem holds at its center a serrated sunburst that seemingly pulsates with energy. Pairs of elaborate rosettes seem to whirl and cascade downward due to the wonderfully beguiling offset of the vertical center, along with tiny starbursts and two mythical birds wearing crowns. Interacting with this rug's uniquely engaging design and magical colorways is completely satisfying on an aesthetic level and is the ideal vehicle for the lover of totemic artistry. The astute use of ivory in the main border accentuates the crisply rendered floral 'crab' border sequence where the horizontal bands have shifted slightly out of sync to the left, further imparting an experience of aliveness and improvisation. This delightful tribal piece transmits the joyful spirit of the Caucasian people. Its quite good pile condition and tremendously versatile 3 1/2 x 5 dimensions allow for exponential applications around the home. Its dazzling graphic presentation also makes it ideal for display on a wall or under glass in a table application.
