(High-Collectible)
("New Arrivals Gallery") This meticulously crafted Shirvan is one of the most fabulous prayer rug designs we have seen, possessing an original, distinctive charm and intensity supported by superbly esoteric geometric devices. Within the upper niche is a mighty weaver’s comb front and center as a critical symbolic reflection of this culturally essential craft amidst a cast of florets and slender boteh (“Seeds of Life”). On either side of the niche, technicolor chinkara gazelles and their diminutive offspring are encased in giant boteh. A matrix of burnished golden lattice work is rendered in the field with laser-like precision. Its compartments house ensorcelling emblems that are variations of the age-old “Wheel of Life” motif. A luxe color palette glitters from a natural brewing process honed over the centuries, shown here with exceptional results. Offering extremely good condition, this 160 to 170-year-old standout achieves a remarkable level of ecstatic Caucasian artistry coupled with superb craftsmanship and unusually fine knotting.
