(Connoisseur-Caliber)
Exceptionally spacious in its field and border, this is an entirely memorable small tribal rug, unlike any piece we have seen in rug literature. It offers an especially balanced, brilliantly executed design destined to be of great interest to lovers of 19th-century Caucasian rugs. Multicolored “Wheel of Life” octagons decorate virtually the entire rug. Yet the rich carnelian red base of the field and golden ivory of the main border lend an entirely unique character to these pronounced mandalas. Amazingly, while it showcases just six colors, one of which is an astonishing apple green, these hues are completely fulfilling, as they are presented in ever-changing combinations. Subtle abrash (intentional color shifts) adds visual depth and enhances the sense of movement to this singular Caucasian tribal gem.
