(High-Decorative) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Woven in the higher elevations of the Caucasus range 120 years ago, this whimsical rug is a testament to the vibrancy of this tribal art tradition even at the turn of the 20th century. The village of Gendje often used stripes as a main component in their designs, here repeating vertically, bejeweled with tiny ornaments. It is in this rug’s border that the artistic spirit behind this woven endeavor is completely unveiled. Individually drawn and colorized prismatic diamonds in the vertical main borders join the top and bottom sections introducing an entirely charming and completely different serrated leaf motif, presented more expansively at the top and compressed at bottom. An inner accent border uses the same trick. With 3x5 dimensions, this delightful rug will not disappoint either on the floor or hung prominently on a wall.
