Drawing from the infinite iterations of Kurdish weaving, this virtually indestructible Bijar exudes the harmonious color sense and joyful, spirited artistry for which the most desirable village rugs possess. Triangular ‘amulets’ jut from the vertical perimeter into the reserve’s rippled sand-toned expanse supporting two aqueous medallions joined by teal ‘baseball' diamonds along the Y-axis. Intrepid streaks of ochre grace the upper section, further establishing this rug as a unique, hand-crafted folk piece - each tangental shade of carnelian, rose quartz, nutmeg, and peach blush can be read with great subtlety enhanced by their proximity to the undyed golden camelhair ground. In addition, the artist-weaver elicited a sense of motion by introducing a camelhair section below the bottom lower pair of Egyptian blue spandrels that ‘lifts’ upward two zebra-striped canids while truncating others at the top where only the legs remain!
