(Connoisseur-Caliber)
This 1-½ centuries-old piece is the breathtaking work of Talish weavers, beloved among mature collectors and imbued with precision and playfulness. The diagonal bands that fill the rug's field are interpreted as an abstracted local view of the steep slopes found at high altitudes. Each flower varies in its outlining and sequence of color. An exceedingly gentle spectrum of pale rose, lemon yellow, lavender, pistachio, and celadon supports the rug's splendid balance of color, including marine blue, teal, and walnut. The signature Talish border pattern is drawn especially striking and graphic manner on a glowing vermillion ground. Those paralleled by blue or teal minor bands such as this are rare to see. Such covetable pieces can be showcased in an appropriate spot in the home as part of an art collection ascribing a presciently modern twist. Equally bewildering as its visual showcase is its virtually full pile.
