The breadth of its color palette is also astonishing, with a vast array of hues ranging from pale rose to warm brick red, from goldenrod to mocha against a deeply saturated blue of the midnight sky. Its outstanding quality, highly lustrous wool serves to heighten this drama. Its delicately drawn all-over pattern is unusually well-spaced, with many subtle nuances of motif to be discovered on each examination. Remarkably, although this exquisite antique carpet is nearly 150 years of age, it has been retained in virtually unblemished, heavier pile condition.
