(Decorative) This mesmerizing antique Ferahan Sarouk town rug is notably individualistic in its design with its unusual oversized, rounded corner spandrels which are further dramatically enhanced with intentional color shifts. They define a much more compact area for the imaginatively drawn medallion with its very striking outlining in both ivory and lively aqua blues, make the medallion particularly luminous. The filigree-like vine and blossom motif sprouting from diminutive vases at each end, has an etched quality that harkens to some of the most elaborate stained glass windows. Its wonderfully sophisticated color palette includes beautiful rust red tones, bronzes, walnut and midnight blue with punctuated notes of cerulean and aqua throughout the composition. With moderate, even pile this rug is in outstanding condition at over 120 years of age.
