(High-Decorative)
The Mahajiran Sarouk style was only produced for about three decades at the turn of the twentieth century, the child of the Ferahan Sarouk tradition, replacing the Ferahan medallion with the Mahajiran central focus formed from blossoming boughs. The sub-group of Blue Mahajirans, although lesser in number, have always been enthusiastically sought after for their elegance and drama. This piece is from the earliest years of production and features greater variety of motifs and intricacy than later pieces. Formal in its presentation, this style is perennially enjoyed for the hand-drawn details for each flower face. Here the royally colored border is, by contrast to the field, spacious, revealing a lovely meander pattern that perfectly balances the activity of the field.
