(High-Decorative) Demonstrating a tremendous artistic ingenuity and a sophisticated sense of color-combining, this is an extremely visually refined antique village carpet. Featuring a luminous, botanically-inspired Herati pattern of interconnected rosettes, feathery leaves, and luscious palmette motifs this Malayer could accommodate numerous decorative styles. Looking closely one can find miniature avian forms nestled within the latticework. The masterful use of subtly graduated earth-tones reveals an accomplished abrash technique, bringing this antique carpet to life with an almost three-dimensional effect in the field. A second glance reveals its wide-ranging palette of cinnabar, paled turquoise, golden wheat, hibiscus, and copper all accentuated on a deep indigo reserve. At 120 years of age this carpet has remained in outstanding, condition.
