A dazzling effect is achieved in the blossom laden field of this highly detailed, skillfully rendered Sultanabad. The intricate latticework of Art Nouveau fronds envelops poppy and iris flowerheads to create a mesmerizing sense of movement and visual depth. Although the pattern repeats ad infinitum, no design is exactly alike with every knot being infused with the creativity of weavers dedicated to their craft. Its naturally dyed hues are wonderfully vibrant due to lanolin rich heavy pile wool, exuding a luster that vivifies the entire surface. Happily, this carpet was produced before the onset of the commercial era of the 1930s which ushered in synthetic dyes and over-processed wool. This luxurious, semi-rustic weaving is brilliantly suited for a wide range of interiors.
