The deep blue field is rarely seen in fine Persian Kashans, and the hand crafted detail work is lush and very finely drawn. The masterful naturally dyed color palette is punctuated by varying tones of prized green.
Within the field, an entirely well-integrated, effusive botanical design contains a subdued elliptical medallion closely integrated into a mesmerizing assortment of smaller floral motifs that radiate outward. Each device is individually rendered in a variety of scales and accented in subtly contrasting hues, allowing the pattern to advance and recede in the viewer’s eye. The swirling fronds and delicate blossoms that fill the intervening spaces create an astonishing visual texture via an incredible abundance of detail. In its subtle rendered cornerpieces, sophisticated, botanically inspired finial motifs are set amidst the scrolling vinery. Throughout, slight variations of each hand-rendered device reveal the individual spirit of its expert weavers. This shifting interplay of forms and colors is anchored by bright filigree of a stately main border, itself richly embellished with intricate rosette motifs. The structure of this carpet is hand finely-knotted, cut wool pile on a cotton foundation.
