(High-Collectible) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Kashkuli Qashqai rugs from the 19th-century are among the finest and most collectible of all tribal Persian carpets. This sub-tribe was known for its finer weaving, tighter knotting, and exceptional craftsmanship. They were traditionally woven by women in Qashqai families, using natural dyes and fine tribal wool. The designs are spontaneous and passed down in a centuries-old oral tradition from mother to daughter through memory rather than written patterns. This remarkable, very rare Kashkuli portrays a celestial wonderland of fantastical detail and vivid jewel tones worthy of fascinating daily inspection. At its core, three stepped-diamonds feature the signature motif, the four-armed device, which is deeply symbolic and reflects the nomadic Qashqai worldview. The rest of the field is a delightfully dense population of diffusely drawn botehs, tiny diamonds, and a menagerie of animals symbolising strength and guidance to the nomads, including goats, lions, sheep, and mythical birds. The alluring palette of saturated vermillion, luminous gold, sky blue, and rich lapis, along with the stunning condition at about 150 years old, exceptional craftsmanship, and historic significance, all come together to make this a prized masterpiece and a vital piece for a serious tribal rug collection or a prominent feature in the home.
