Beyond the blooming smorgasbord of glowing flora, an entirely magical world of flourishing fauna intersects with the human built environment at the foot of the rug's field. Beneath willowy fronds, a lion turns its head toward an observant stag taking flight, perhaps aided in its escape by a glorious azure vase blocking the predator’s view. Across the stream that courses the scene, a technicolor town can be seen in the distance. Spontaneously placed fish can be seen swimming against the current on the left bank. Above, a quiet peacock is nestled between branches, observed by curious birds among mottled boughs on the right. Interestingly, two floating cartouches spotlight miniature tableaus of a crouched deer facing a farmstead. The borders are particularly exotic, depicting a wide variety of structures flanking a lively forest scene of diversely blossoming trees.
