The colors are time-softened and glowing with patina, the drawing natural and showing much more nuance than later pieces. Spectacularly dyed abrash color striation creates an inimitably magical effect. Watercolor-like waves of terra cotta undulate within its striking pomegranate-shaped medallion. In the corner pieces and border details, naturally sourced colors shift in stages from pale celadon at the bottom through azure to a more dramatic cerulean at the top adding fascinating visual dimension.
