(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") The pale burnished gold ground of this extremely dexterously woven antique Ferahan Sarouk carpet is rarely seen and imbues it with a sense of regality. The field is adorned with a larger scale allover floral pattern that is particularly delicately rendered. Note the center floral arrangement at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical center axes that effectively serves to organize the pattern. Above and below it are cruciforms of delicate floral sprays that radiate leaves diagonally. Highly stylized bouquets project into the field from the perimeter and corners, reaching to the edges of the center designs. The crimson to rust red main border is adorned with resplendent palmettes, flower heads, and curling leaves. Extremely lanolin-rich wool and heavier pile effectively adds a three-dimensional quality to the composition.
