(High-Collectible)
("New Arrivals Gallery") This astonishingly expressive, approximately 150 to 170-year-old carpet features many enterprising artistic departures from the classical Serapi format. A contoured diamond medallion features a knot-work design highly suggestive of the venerable archetype dragon motif borrowed from concepts acquired through the Silk Routes and only incorporated into very special Persian carpets. High-contrast sculpted botanical designs fill the rare ivory reserve emanating from atypically shaped tripartite pendants. Strategic color shading and outlining intensities create a three-dimensional effect among the thrilling drama in full bloom. The master-brewed color palette is much more variegated than first meets the eye. Of particular note is a rare shade of pistachio green that makes its appearance only sporadically. Overall, the artistic purposeful shifting of chromatic hues, often in unexpected places, fosters a sense of aliveness and enhances the already profound visual interest. A wide ivory inner border contains exceptionally rarely seen Kufic script divided by crimson hourglass forms.
