(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") In the latter part of the 19th century, the Ziegler company from Germany invested in building many looms in the newly minted garrison town of Arak, a stone’s throw from the great Ferahan weaving area. They wisely took inspiration from the wealth of local village weaving traditions and the re-invented Court designs from the Ferahan region, creating a new style. In this beautiful, finely woven room-size example, rhythmic implied medallions float amidst illuminated floral clusters blooming from wire-thin vinery. The subtle asymmetries within a symmetrical format charm the eye and exude sophistication. This style is beloved for its exquisite color-combining, exemplified here in a sparklingly diverse palette of delectable jewel hues on a coveted ivory ground. Coffee bean, cornsilk, marmalade, coral, burnished electrum, fiery carnelian, with occasional flashes of teal, and paled celadon are only some of the hues that make up this unusual palette. Punchy shades in the main border glitter with abrash textures, and the playful design of giant flowerheads co-exist with palmettes and burgeoning buds on glowing vines.
