(High-Decorative)
("New Arrivals Gallery") This abundantly creative, extremely finely knotted room-size Persian Ziegler Sultanabad carpet is rife with dynamic whimsy, wonderfully overscale botanical drawing, and an irrepressible spirit. An ivory field silhouettes bustling carnations, palmettes, almond flowers, and old-world roses ensconced in flame-like fringe. Each is individually expressed, and all are connected by naturalistic coral-hued vinery. The best antique Sultanabads such as this offer enchanting color palettes, and this one does not disappoint, particularly through its glowing blues and variety of unusual green tonalities. The main border pattern of starflowers wreathed in oak leaves with hidden arabesque vinery is set on a fiery carnelian-red base, providing a consistent rhythm that encircles the animated field. The minor bands feature a striking sequence of smiling tulips. For a décor that needs vigor and a sense of organized spontaneity, this delightful carpet with very good pile condition offers great inspiration as the foundation for a distinctive space.
