One of the world’s best sources of antique carpets. – Financial Times
11' 8" x 18' 0" Circa 1900 Price: $68,000
A wonderfully subtle all-over design is paired with an unusually restrained palette in this consummately crafted oversize antique Persian carpet from the noted city workshops of Tehran. The delicate, small-scale floral motifs and series of petit point borders that can only be achieved through a staggeringly fine weave here create a regal, understated effect. Preserved in excellent condition with heavy pile overall, this grand carpet was woven entirely with vegetal dyes over 100 years ago, exemplifying in its depth and subtlety the dramatic visual and qualitative difference between classically crafted, antique Persian carpets and modern reproductions.
