This finely woven, warm-toned Persian Malayer village rug offers a deeply appealing carnelian red ground adorned with repeating boteh (the seeds from which all life grows.) These agricultural symbols are outlined alternately in teal and maize yellow, creating a rhythmic tonal dance across the field. Completing this engaging color display is the the extremely difficult to dye pistachio green hue in the border that perfectly accents the warm base it surrounds. Each individually drawn boteh and the creative border motif reveals the exceptional precision and passion that infuse this notable 19th century Oriental rug that was lovingly created by a single weaver over many months. Its extremely good medium pile condition demonstrates the great respect that its owners have consistently given it over some 125 years.
