Exhibiting seemingly chiseled detail work and glowing, richly dyed tones, this 145-year--old Ferahan Sarouk rug attests to the impressive talents of the most gifted designer/weavers of this Town style that is renowned for its expressive drawing within the floral aesthetic. Crafted with exceptionally fine knotting, the bejeweled, fluidly drawn center medallion and the palmette-based borders, both inspired by the 400-year old Persian floral tradition, create a refreshing visage distinctive to Ferahan. Compelling hues of terracotta, deep indigo, rose, carnelian, and seldom-encountered leaf green set alight the whimsically drawn botanical elements that happily spring from razor-thin vinery. This artistically original area size piece comes to us in excellent, heavy-pile condition.
