The same Herati pattern in this antique Persian carpet is used throughout the ivory hexagonal field, then reappears in the warm pale yellow corner spandrels. With this dexterous change of similar palette, these two realms are wonderfully accentuated, creating a fascinating vision. A sophisticated level of contrast is maintained throughout the work with pleasing darker highlights in the field and framed with a soft cinnabar toned main border.
