(Connoisseur-Caliber) This exquisitely artistic Kuba rug is a size that most likely was specially commissioned as a gift. Its diagonal stripe pattern shows a much greater level of dynamism and asymmetry, formed of unique, individually drawn hexagon motifs with far more background hues than usually seen. Its stunning composition remains crisp and perfectly organized, despite the inherent difficulty of weaving diagonal forms. The boteh-filled main border is delightfully freely spaced, very spontaneously done and incredibly unique. Note the date 1290 AH (1872 AD) in the uppermost left corner of its main, cream-hued border. This diminutive yet deeply moving rug is in wonderful condition.
