An astonishingly beautiful carpet, this antique oversize Agra was designed to be integrated into a memorable room as its centerpiece. Its aquamarine blue ground, brilliantly abrashed (intentionally color-shaded) like strokes from a watercolor brush, is the counterpoint to the other rare, exquisite color, the ochre brown that provides the base tone for the medallion, spandrels and border. The duet between these two colors is utterly enrapturing as is the filigree within the medallion and spandrels and the silhouetted palmettes in the border. Wonderful condition further enhances the abundant appeal of this inspired floor covering.
