KURDISH RUNNER, Northwest Persian
3' 3" x 8' 10" Circa 1910 Price: $7,000
(High-Decorative)
This ebullient antique Kurdish runner exudes the folkloric charm for which these unaffected, intensely personal folk art rugs are known. This antique runner is in exceptional condition making it ideal with hallway use. Diagonal rows of dramatically stylized boteh ("Seed of Life") forms alight along the full expanse of the midnight indigo field, with buoyant hues of teal, pistachio green, azure, guava and even saffron yellow, giving each archetypal device greater impact and presence. The highly energetic composition is enclosed by an equally masterfully dyed border suite.
