(High-Decorative) The tribal ‘boteh’, or ‘Seed of Life’, was extremely popular motif among Persian rug weavers around the turn of the 20th century. In this antique Senneh rug, a very appealing and complex texture is created by rows of graceful, finely articulated botehs, surrounded by abstract floral sprays. Enclosing this infinite field of seeds is a powerfully geometricized main border, depicting an elemental interpretation of a classic ‘meandering vine and flowerhead’ border pattern. Its extremely luminous shade of persimmon red and golden yellow are particularly appealing.
