MAHAJIRAN SAROUK, West Central Persian
10' 10" x 13' 7" Circa 1910 Price: $42,000
(High-Decorative)
A direct descendant of the esteemed Ferahan Sarouk carpets, this premier-quality Mahajiran Sarouk presents an absolutely shimmering lamb's wool field of deepest “midnight” indigo. To create such a deep tone using indigo dye without damaging the integrity of the wool, was a feat most other regions could not achieve. This resonant shade of iridescent blue provides stirring drama to an environment especially as it off-sets a series of golds, peaches, soft cornflower blue, and carnelian in its crisp botanical patterns. Mahajirans were woven with a significantly thicker pile than most antique Persian carpets, which enhances their durability, and this large room-size offers an extremely velvety and lush pile that will create a luxurious atmosphere in any room in which it is placed.
