Without pretense or obvious sophistication, this singular, unusully wide antique Kurdish rug was woven by pastoral nomads. It effectively captivates its viewer with its naive design, punctuated by two large asymmetrical decagons. Also endearing is its "Cornstalk" border, and intentionally irregularly rendered "Running Water" inner border. The Kurdish tribe's beloved "sprig and flower" design repeated across its intentionally color-striated field. this close to 6x9 rug's good pile and sturdy construction make it durable for floor use, although it would make a dramatic presentation when displayed on a long wall.
