("New Arrivals Gallery") A truly exciting find for even longtime connoisseurs of Caucasian rugs, this is an extremely early example of the powerfully composed highland tribal rugs from the Kazak region. The simplicity of the ornamentation within its triad of octagonal mandalas, all different in shape and proportions, and its frame an especially elemental rendition of Fachralo tree-like motif, both point to a much greater age than virtually every other example of this beloved style we have seen over of 40+ years of business. Its sublime, time-matured colors, such as pale taupe, gray, celadon, auburn, and blonde, juxtaposed to its rich carnelian red field and sapphire blue main border, also indicate its some 180 years of age. Its even moderate pile makes it ideal for display in a less frequently trodden space.
