In at the seldom-seen but easily identifiable Shikl Kazak style, this robust this antique Caucasian rug has an appealing simplicity of drawing and an uncluttered field design that allows the motifs to emerge boldly in the foreground. The main medallions are on powerful display and feature the classic Shikli elongated motifs, a design similar to the boteh seed (a precursor to modern paisley) with a strong exterior shell and potential life inside. They also exhibit an interesting 4 horizontal bars on either side of the medallions that create a visual playfulness. Throughout this piece the dye work is saturated, but with excellent variations, especially in the indigo and forest green textures, with the camel hues offsetting the red and blue gorgeously. As is evident in the images, it also offers heavier pile condition.
