(High-Decorative) This delightfully eccentric, 19th century Senneh carpet in outstanding condition also displays the superb craftsmanship and tremendous artistic dexterity of this prized town weaving style. It demonstrates the great command necessary to render symmetrical, densely ornamented forms, successfully capturing the dynamic harmony that is the quintessential skill of classical Persian weaving. Here the virile, unadorned hexagonal reserve features a beautiful abrash (artistic color striation) in a captivating madder red, rolling under a striated indigo medallion and its corresponding pendants. The austere background is a bold juxtaposition to the ornate honey comb lattice work in the corner pieces and their pairing creates a dramatic visual impact.
