(High-Collectible) This mid-19th century large room size carpet offers the quintessential enjoyment of a very finely woven floral carpet of significant age. The handle of this textile is exquisitely pliant, the patina that illuminates its saturated colors and ivory field is entrancing, and the dimensionality of the design is profound. Spanning its entire length and outlined in a soft cerulean blue, the elaborated medallion is as florid as a tropical garden of exotic flowers. The splendid oversize elements of this centerpiece and the corners are in intentionally vivid contrast to the extreme delicacy and fineness of the border suite. This elegant, 170-year-old masterwork is in superb condition with extremely good pile overall.
