(Connoisseur-Caliber) (“Winter 2019 New Acquisition“) The awe-inspiring splendor of luxurious camel’s hair is impressively displayed across the cavernous field of this 150-year old folk art carpet. A fabulously immersive textile, this piece was created solely from the natural earthy shadings of the golden brown fiber, reminiscent of eons-old canyon walls. Masterfully abrashed (artistic color striation), the dramatically unadorned field is balanced against the lavishly detailed medallion and border. Along with the corner pieces, all three elements are filled with traditional, undersized motifs, drawn freehand and assigned secondary roles to the field. Angular botehs, or seed pods, in the organically shaped medallion provide some detail and suggestion of the potency of life hidden in a desert terrain. Learn About This Rug Type
