Natural colors softened over some 170 years and a dynamic, balanced composition combine to achieve an astonishingly vital aesthetic. Within its atypically sparsely ornamented field, a confident, graphic medallion in antique ivory is filled with a crisply drawn grouping of abstracted fronds and blossom motifs. These motifs extend into four expressive, individually rendered pendants of slightly varied scale and design. A striking assortment of stylized floral forms fills the remainder of the reserve with carefully balanced activity. Atypically, branches and blossoms are defined with color rather than line.
