The central column of motifs replicate a Bidjov Shirvan construction, but the top and bottom medallions hold Kuba’s Ordutch Konagend grill-like motifs; the rest of the extemporaneously drawn field and border designs are likewise part of Kuba’s lexicon. Mythical peacocks, antelopes and horses, each with distinct personalities vie for space; tasseled talismans and enigmatic anchor devices abound. Inventive, larger-than-life boteh seeds are supercharged with animistic energy while their cousins circumambulate the innermost golden border.
