From the famed Ferahan Town weaving tradition, this stellar rug's complex, undulating design is entirely one-of-a-kind and expertly crafted with extraordinarily fine knotting. Communicated by an unadulterated fiery palette and a palpable sense of movement, it powerfully expresses a sheer dynamism, Crimson vinery connects every robust polychrome blossom, each staggered in a way as to ingeniously create diagonal ‘bands’ from left to right and vice versa. This pattern does not end at the borders in the weaver’s worldview, rather continues in an infinite universal expansion beyond the framing. Its undyed ivory pile is highly desirable to connoisseurs of antique Persian rugs. It also heightens the rug's richly brilliant Misano red, tangerine, pale gold, and lagoon blue tonalities. Ferahans, with their prized, extremely supple handle, are significantly rarer than their Sarouk cousins, and this example remains in excellent condition.
