(High-Collectible-Plus) ("One of “65 Best-of-Their-Type Rugs Sold in 2024") This masterfully conceived, gracefully executed piece is a marvelous example from the illustrious Hadji Jallili tradition. Although planned, every botanical detail never feels scripted or static but is continually fresh and reinvented. The renowned workshop's penchant for exquisitely subdued hues, including celadon, cinnamon, taupe, and ice blue, is apparent in this extremely early carpet, providing ethereal textures and the subtlest gradations of hue. Its classical center medallion, supported by the four delicately ornate, reciprocally scalloped spandrels, expresses a profound elegance. A rich shade of cornflower appears but once in a tiny splash. Its extremely lustrous wool quality, almost impossible to capture in a picture, is central to this 170-year-old luxuriant carpet’s atmospheric radiance and guarantees many years of enchantment and delight at every glance.
