This superbly exuberant Kazak rug captures its tradition's penchant for exciting colors, multi-scale motifs, and a playful ambiance that is amiably beguiling. A series of medallions ascend the deep royal blue field, each containing relaxed, hand-drawn quatrefoil designs in rich madder red, coral, burnished gold, and dark teal. Individually rendered ornaments form a constellation of primal motifs from Diamonds of Strength, primitive Knots of Eternity, and eight-pointed star blossoms adorned with St. Andrew's crosses among a plethora of tiny twinkling boteh or Seeds of Life. This piece utilizes a main border pattern with a virtuoso interpretation of a classical Gendje motif. Happily, this strikingly handsome tribal rug remains in exceptional condition with a sumptuous heavy pile.
