Blending geometric influences from the surrounding small villages and tribes, but with a more refined curvilinear aesthetic, this small room-size piece is indicative of the incredibly artistic Ferahan weaving that ignited a passion for Persian art rugs in the Western World. This unforgettably buoyant carpet offers an extraordinary level of uniqueness in its luminous parchment ground, which is the perfect canvas for the work of its master weavers, whose drawing of every interconnected flower and leaf is distinctive within a large-scale allover pattern. A glowing array of colors seems to have come from a painter's palette. A deft sense of chiaroscuro yields chromatic textures seldom seen and establishes a sublime harmony between field and borders. At over 160-years old, it is in extremely good floor condition.
