(Connoisseur-Caliber) This over 150-year-old South Persian tribal rug possesses great artistic magnitude from the always ingenious Afshar people with great originality and a radiant, unique color palette. An organically drawn assemblage of thin blossoming stalks floats within an electrifying French blue ground. It magnifies the dazzling skill required to translate the plant-derived dyes into a gorgeous palette, including a seldom-seen fern green, dark coral, saffron gold, and tangerine. Afshar rugs tend to feature canonical border patterns used time and again. Here, an exceptionally novel design in the main band shows delicate polychrome buds attached to an ivory bramble. The entire composition glistens with the patina of great age often sought after by collectors of exceptionally rare pieces.
