(Connoisseur-Caliber)
This remarkably conserved Caucasian artifact is almost assuredly a nomadic work, profoundly more rare and magical than later cottage work. The freehanded spontaneity employed by its weaver is apparent in delightful zones of asymmetry experienced throughout the composition. Unlike the more elaborate pattern language of younger counterparts, the three unpretentious medallions are notably open and spacious as their differing sizes give the impression these large sheild-like elements are advancing and receding into the background. Charmingly, they are surrounded by a contingent of sprouting boteh seeds that appear to have eyes and legs, like animated tiny red mushrooms on the march. Deep yellow rectangles at either end of the central axis present mysterious motifs without precedent to our knowledge, underscoring the timeless enigma of early symbolism. Conveying a slow movement upwards, the entire kinetic scene of the field together expresses vertical ascent. Supporting the elemental atmosphere of this piece is its minimalist color palette. A traditional oak-leaf-and-chalice main border is surrounded by three "Fence of Security" crenelated secondary ones.
