This 170-year-old Persian town carpet in premium condition offers an exquisitely balanced presentation of Ferahan Sarouk motifs while standing at the top of its class in both its level of artistry and craftsmanship. Fluid floral imagery manifests an entrancingly lyrical atmosphere via evocative clarity. An inspired medallion with inset filigree compartments created by scrolling fronds extends into crowned trefoil pendants adding to the palpable grandeur of this piece. Its rich, seasoned colors include an especially rare golden orange, left behind in a dervish-like trail across the Egyptian blue spandrels. Every warm hue is enhanced by the luxurious quality of its luminous wool. A painterly balance is struck via the parchment-toned reserve is both understated and dynamic in the way it enhances and supports the crystalline foliage. An elegantly proportioned main border presents grand escutcheon rosettes on a deep sunset red ground.
