("New Arrivals Gallery") This transformative tribal rug contains part of the continuum of Caucasian folkloric beliefs and tales from the ancient past up to recent history. However, all the motifs seem to strangely hint at the post-modern techno future to come. The pattern presented here consists of semi-architectural forms with mobile-esque appendages found at the center, while four miniature “prayer rugs” oppose each other above and below. Stunning archaic figural designs with totemic human and botanical elements appear to perform in the lower and upper parts of the field. An exceptional harmony is fluidly achieved as the lively border design is drawn from the prayer rug emblems found within the upbeat azure blue field. A series of narrow borders contain mesmerizing patterns of ram’s horns sprouting from one another like frondescing blossoms. They surround pairs of back-to-back boteh seeds marching along a carbuncle red ground. The outer golden band, a hue derived from precious saffron, is adorned with cuneiform-like stars. A true connoisseurs’s piece in especially fine condition, this mysterious weaving would be a crowning jewel for the Caucasian rug collector who thinks they have it all.
