(Connoisseur-Caliber) With immensely appealing, naturally derived colors and an expressive array of eye-catching botanical designs, this extremely finely knotted 175-year-old carpet expresses the unique artistry for which the related Ferahan and Ferahan Sarouk styles are famed. When a medallion is present in this perennially beloved rug type, its shape is highly individualistic. This cruciform-centered radial medallion exhibits the beauty and majesty reminiscent of an eons-old supernova making its first appearance to earthly observers. A bevy of extraordinary floral forms burst forth across the coppery red reserve. Due to the exotic nature of their color and shape, they bring to mind a lush undersea garden with tendrils floating in the ebb and flow. The main border gives this piece an ornate frame, reflecting the gracious palette of hues from cinnabar and teak to luminous coral, citrine, forest green, and deep teal. Grand palmettes look almost pharaonic amidst a robust melange of gleaming flora. Its pile would have been initially clipped relatively short by the weavers, so its even medium pile makes for a fortuitous find.
