("New Arrivals Gallery") This carpet, in extremely rarely encountered dimensions, was woven with the acclaimed Mohtasham mastery and accomplished eloquence one has come to expect from this virtuoso workshop during this period. A two-stage trefoil flower medallion begins with an enthroned lotus at the center, symbolic of rebirth, purity, and divinity, as a sponsor of the verdure that unfolds around it. Throughout the antiqued ivory field, the sheer profusion of painstakingly rendered and ingenious imagery offers a fascinating world to explore in detail over and over again. Though symmetrically balanced, slight variations of each hand-rendered device reveal the individual spirit of its expert weavers with always the potential for discovering new intricacies they left behind. Its sublime coloration effortlessly juxtaposes evocative tones in unique ways, with light beige, indigo, and unusual, especially time-softened terracotta and periwinkle working in concert to animate the symphony of collaborative designs. A harmonious piece, this Mohtasham is graced with a light patina that illumines its subtle palette through superb lamb’s wool.
