("New Arrivals Gallery") A winsome arrangement of tiny kaleidoscopic flowers suspended on a delicate lattice in a luscious cascade of blooms gives this late 19th century all-over patterned, heavier-piled Sultanabad a uniquely warm and inviting character. The depiction of native floral species is wide-ranging and imbues this carpet with a celebratory quality. Upon closer inspection, a continually surprising and inviting sense of texture and visual interest through spontaneous alterations in size, form, color, and outlining for decades of delightful discoveries. Happily for us, Sultanabad workshops distinguished themselves by creating original, exuberant chromatic displays, as seen in this room-size carpet. Exotic marigolds, aquamarine, daffodil, moss greens, sienna, pistachio, bright ivory, and more illumine every lush botanical ornament. A crenelated band with delightful abrash color shifts separates the shimmering cobalt blue field from a pair of carnation meanders with an evocative sequence of flower heads and tendrils in the primary border.
