(Connoisseur-Caliber) This hidden gem of a Mohtasham Kashan is a magnificent early example of this legendary weaving style, achieving a woven precision that is awe-inspiring while at the same time capturing the movement, whimsy, and abundance of a blooming garden. A medallion of midnight indigo is wreathed in a coral-hued knotwork of ornate vinery that resides at the center of a sophisticated network of diverse botanical wonders. Above and below the centerpiece, nestled amidst a profusion of crystalline blooms, are two mini-medallions resembling Persian tile work. Luscious colors from master-craft recipes, now lost and forever unattainable, imbue every element with the fullness of an ecstatic artistic vision. The nimbly applied, triumphant chiaroscuro combinations attest to the unwavering confidence of the weaver. The wide, glowing palmette border boasts a host of snowy blossoms adorning filigree branches in spontaneous arrangements and densities. This superb condition, extraordinarily early piece boasts the incredibly luminous lamb’s wool the Mohtasham workshops were famous for.
