LAVER KIRMAN, Southeast Persian
8' 5" x 12' 3" Circa 1875 Price: $38,000
(Connoisseur-Caliber)
This exquisite room-size Laver Kirman rug in absolutely superb condition exemplifies the mature artistry and brilliantly combined, time-softened color for which the finest 19th century Laver examples are so understandably prized. Intensified by the sheer luminosity of an antique ivory multi-lobed surround, the stately, layered medallion presents enthralling and elegant detail. In addition to rare celadon and garnet tones, virtually never-seen apricot outlines are a very successful and innovative artistic choice. All motifs are drawn individually with great clarity. The unexpected sapphire blue abrash towards the top of the rug adds one more unexpected nuance to this stellar carpet. Laver Kirmans are often chosen to enhance formal spaces with their particularly elegant and endearing expression of beauty.
