Eschewing the cruciform field motifs traditional to the Caucasian Seichur Kuba substyle, this intensely alluring early piece offers a novel allover field design innovation that is as sophisticated as it is highly unusual. The fluidly scrolling spring and flower motifs are incredibly intricate, establishing a soothing allover design of delicate pinpoint blossom forms that seem to create their own rhythmic waves as a compelling secondary pattern. This fantastic level of detail is ideally complemented by three intensely dramatic borders that become progressively wider as they proceed outward. Like an elaborately carved gilt frame, the result is a heightened focus on the artistry within, but here the borders themselves provide their own equally satisfying layer of creativity! The classic “wave” main border—a signature of the Seichur style—holds a particularly surprising and pleasing abrash color shift.
